7 Ultramod Tech Items

It's a new year and you can start it out right with some new tech for your home.

Countertop Composter - Pela Lomi $499

There are a handful of various brands of countertop composters out there. I've been eyeing the Pela Lomi. It takes produce scraps, meat scraps, soft bones/shells, egg shells, coffee/tea waste, starches, yard trimmings, limited amounts of very hard shell/fibrous material, and approved bioplastics. The result, after running a cycle, is odor-neutralized compost-rich dirt that can be added to your garden or houseplants.

Moen Smart Shower - Moen $2719.50

Moen has a smart shower system that connects with Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant. You have to have the smart shower valve (installed in the wall), the battery back up, and the controller. It's pricey. You can pre-program your shower for specific duties like washing the dog. You can also say "Alexa, turn on shower at 105-degrees" or use your phone to turn the shower on/off. It's available through any supplier that carries Moen products like Lowe's, Home Depot, and Ferguson.

Quiet Air Purifier - Rabbit A3 $749.95

This is a HEPA air purifier that is about as loud as a whisper. If you live in a place with air quality issues, pet dander, mold/mildew, pollen, and other irritants, this could be a good solution for you. It comes in plain options or in the art series (various famous paintings available). It's low maintenance. It connects to your phone or smart hub. This could easily reduce seasonal allergies.

Translator - Waverly Labs Ambassador $179

Waverly Labs has a wearable translator. If you deal with tourists or if you travel, this universal translator might be your new best friend. Being unable to communicate can be disorienting. It has three settings and can connect to your phone. Currently works with 20 languages and 42 dialects.

Home Hydroponics - My Gardyn 2.0 $999

First off, there are a number of options for home hydroponics from countertop to standalones. I prefer the rectangular footprint of My Gardyn, which is 1 foot x 2 feet x 5 feet tall. Not only can you grow your own food, but the plants will help renew the air in your home. This sort of system will help lower your food bill and will encourage you to eat healthier. It totally connects to your phone/computer and you can even sign up for the Kelby AI assistant.

Explorer Hoodie - Oros Apparel $180

Each piece from Oros Apparel is made with aerogel in a special apparel insulation called Solar-Core. Aerogel is used on spacecraft to withstand super cold temps of -450F. The Explorer hoodie is lightweight and can easily be worn in lieu of a jacket down to about 0F - I can personally vouch for this. During a 10-day blizzard I wore mine while shoveling snow a number of times. It worked perfectly. They have jackets, tops, bottoms, gloves, and hats.
